I mentioned that I was going to do a picspam of the cast of my Nano Novel 'Songbirds' so here it is! It always helps me to do a casting for my writing as it helps me to envisage things better. I used a mix of actors I like and suited the roles and a singer.

Now I deliberated about whether Kate was maybe a bit too pretty to be Flora, but I think she suits quite well on the whole. She has that earthy down to earth aura with strength of mind that the character needs. Flora is the underdog - member of chorus who got lucky, decent girl, low self-esteem. Domineering mother, secret tragedy in life.Sister committed suicide father died.Illness. She's strong willed, hard worker. Not beautiful but works hard. Likeable. Scottish/Irish. Dreamed of a better life where her talents would be accepted. Wants desperately to be loved.Hidden ambition inside. Has strength she doesn't know about. Everyone underestimates her because she is so down to earth and sweet.

Rosanna is very insecure and unhappy troubled genius - talented, insecure temperamental histrionic exotic with a very stormy tempestuous home life. Diva! throws mega tantrums about things. People tolerate her bullshit because she is popular and gifted when she makes an effort. Her voice is deteriorating so she is afraid of rivals. When she realises she has a rival in Flora the scene is set for conflict especially when she wants Rob and the multi million recording contract!

Flora's best friend and the heart of the book. He's a gifted composer and vocal coach who befriends her and nurtures her talent. Tom is unlucky in love at first and kind of overworked but things look up for him after disaster strikes.

Rob is the love interest and hot baritone cast as Don Giovanni and Count Almaviva in the productions.I wanted him to be so ridiculously goodlooking that the women in the book would all be drooling over him. He's a nice guy, down to earth despite his looks and wealth. Passionate and enthusiastic about life and his work. The moment I saw Armie, he was perfect.

I wanted someone who was sexually magnetic with a wicked edge.Pierre is a manipulative conductor who has Rosanna under his spell. He takes advantage of her insecurities to harm others. Rosanna wouldn't have a chance opposite a man like this.

The rich Russian millionaire who owns Glasslake. Sergei is involved with the running of the theatre and wants respectability from the musical mainstream. He can be formidable and doesn't suffer fools gladly but he is kind and appreciates talent and hard work.

Hjalmar is a cellist in the string quartet Tom starts to work with, after he is unhappy about Albert dumping him for his fiancee. He is passionate about modern music and encourages Tom to work on his composing. He is sweet gentle and a bit goofy. Tom finally falls in love with the right one.

Edwin is Tom's boss and Head of Music at Glasslake. He is wise and funny, but tends to leave Tom to do all the grunt work. He's also likes to spend all his time in the pub if he can.
Bonus pic:
I included this because the role features at the climax of the story.
Be Gentle with me, this is my first ever picspam and I'm a bit of a n00b at LJ-formatting! Any comments would be gratefully received!
